Opéra Garnier Paris

Selected by the Opéra National de Paris, setec opency is delivering the OPC & Logistics mission for the renovation of the Palais Garnier, an iconic landmark listed as a Historic Monument.

Palais Garnier: supporting the transformation of a living monument

A 19th-century architectural masterpiece and a symbol of French cultural influence, the Palais Garnier welcomes nearly 350,000 spectators and over one million visitors each year. Listed as a Historic Monument, it remains a vibrant, highly frequented and technically demanding venue. The Opéra National de Paris is now undertaking a major renovation program to ensure the building’s long-term preservation and adapt it to contemporary standards. This includes modernizing stage facilities, refurbishing emblematic spaces — auditorium, foyer de la danse, workshops, surroundings and the south façade — upgrading technical installations, and addressing constraints related to lead and asbestos. The project combines strong heritage ambitions with high technical requirements.

Within this context, setec opency has been appointed to carry out the OPC & Logistics mission, in partnership with SICA Logistique. A structuring role, spanning from design phases through to construction.

A highly constrained construction environment

Working at the Palais Garnier means balancing heritage preservation, operational continuity and performance. The site will remain partially open throughout the works, with a strictly scheduled closure of the stage between July 2027 and September 2029. The experience of spectators and visitors must be maintained despite co-activity and construction constraints.

Operating conditions are particularly demanding: restricted access, limited storage areas, dense urban surroundings, heightened security requirements and a fixed schedule. Each logistical decision directly impacts safety, flow management and adherence to deadlines. In this context, logistics management becomes a strategic lever. It requires precise anticipation of deliveries, rigorous coordination between contractors and an organization tailored to a monument where every space is both constrained and protected.

Managing, coordinating and securing timelines

The mission entrusted to setec opency is built on a strong conviction: in complex heritage projects, the quality of coordination determines overall success. Our teams provide transversal project management, combining scheduling, interface management and coordination of all stakeholders. The challenge is twofold: ensuring consistency across all work phases and securing the planned reopening date in September 2029. Planning tools are designed to be both robust and adaptable, capable of absorbing the inevitable uncertainties of working within an existing heritage structure. Beyond operational coordination, setec opency acts as a facilitator for the client, structuring information, supporting decision-making and providing the Opéra National de Paris with a clear, consolidated view of project progress.

A mark of trust for setec opency

Being appointed for the OPC & Logistics mission of the Palais Garnier renovation reflects strong recognition of our expertise in managing complex projects, particularly in occupied sites with high heritage value.

This project mobilizes all our capabilities in construction management, stakeholder coordination, flow management and schedule control. It demonstrates our ability to operate with rigor in sensitive environments, where technical precision goes hand in hand with heritage preservation and the continuity of a major cultural public service. Our teams are fully committed, bringing rigor and dedication to a shared objective: enabling the Palais Garnier to continue its history, under renewed conditions, at the heart of French artistic life.
