Restructuring of the Richelieu Quadrangle

Project

The Richelieu Quadrangle, a historic site of the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BNF) since the early 17th century, is being rehabilitated to:

  • Secure the buildings and equipment.
  • Reorganize BNF collections.
  • Renovate and expand public services, including the opening of the Oval Room for free access to documents.

The project also includes:

  • Installation of new libraries for the Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art (INHA) and the École Nationale des Chartes (ENC).
  • Creation of a 1,000 m² museum to display 700 to 1,000 iconic pieces.

The restructuring is carried out in two phases to ensure the site’s operations continue throughout the construction period.
