Project

Located on the Grenoble Peninsula, the CEA (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission) is a strategic research center. It hosts more than 2,500 researchers and technicians working on cutting-edge innovations in the fields of energy, new technologies, and nanomaterials.

As part of the 2024 Recovery Plan, a large-scale energy renovation project has been launched to modernize one of the site’s iconic buildings: Building D1, constructed in 1957.

The renovation of Building D1 aims to upgrade the infrastructure while ensuring the continuity of scientific activities. Two major entities of the CEA are based there:

  • IRIG (Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Grenoble), specializing in life sciences, physics, and materials chemistry.
  • LITEN (Laboratory for Innovation in New Energy Technologies and Nanomaterials), which plays a key role in the energy transition.

The planned work includes:

  • Insulating and renovating the facades to reduce thermal losses.
  • Refurbishing the roof of the second floor (R+2) to ensure perfect airtightness and waterproofing, without interrupting ongoing experiments.
  • Redesigning the second-floor spaces in line with CEA’s new standards to improve efficiency and researchers’ well-being.

Mission

In partnership with Cent7Architecture, setec opency is responsible for managing and coordinating the studies and works. Our missions include:

  • Careful planning of operations to minimize disruptions.
  • Managing interfaces between various interventions to ensure safety and continuity of testing.
  • Optimized organization to maintain scientific activities throughout the project duration.

This project represents a major challenge: carrying out a comprehensive renovation without compromising the operation of the laboratories. It requires precise coordination and careful anticipation of each intervention phase.

Thanks to our expertise in project management in constrained environments, we ensure an efficient, sustainable renovation while respecting ongoing scientific activities.
