Last night marked the inauguration of the Albert-Kahn museum in Boulogne-Billancourt.
After 5 years of renovation, the museum has undergone a facelift and will reopen its doors tomorrow, Saturday April 2, 2022.
The museum, which was built by the Hauts-de-Seinedepartment, houses Albert Kahn’s important “Archives de la Planète” collection. It comprises some 72,000 color photographs on autochrome plates, making it the largest collection of its kind. There are also almost 4,000 stereoscopic plates spread over 4,600 m², as well as a sumptuous garden featuring various landscape scenes, including the famous Japanese garden.
The work involved renovating 8 buildings and constructing a new one containing an exhibition hall and a restaurant open to the public. The new structure, designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and his French firm KENGO KUMA & ASSOCIATES, seeks to show Albert Kahn’s special relationship with Japan.
For this project, setec opency carried out the SCMC tasks during the design and construction phases, as well as the management of the prorata account. Other setec group subsidiaries were also involved in the project: setec bâtiment (prime contractor for the technical work packages) and setec hydratec (geothermal expert).
