Euralpin Tunnel Lyon-Turin (TELT)

Project

The new Euralpin Tunnel Lyon-Turin (TELT) line, scheduled to be operational by 2030, aims to enhance the competitiveness of rail freight transport in the region. The project includes the construction of one of the world’s longest railway tunnels, spanning 57 km between Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Avressieux.

The Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne site will serve as the connection point between the French and cross-border sections of the Lyon-Turin railway line. It will link the existing network with the new infrastructure of the cross-border section.

Mission

SNCF Réseau then tasked the consortium composed of setec opency, Eiffage Génie Civil, and Cougnaud Construction with the creation of the main construction base to accommodate the personnel of the companies, in order to avoid congestion in the surrounding communities. setec opency, as the lead contractor, is responsible for:

  • Leading the consortium using Lean management/construction with its teams on-site.
  • Managing the site facilities for 98 months, which includes: maintenance of both interior and exterior spaces, waste management, and user reception.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of the site and employees, notably through access control.
  • Operating the site in an environmentally friendly manner, with solar panels, water recovery tanks for irrigation, and more.
