A place steeped in history, it was within these walls that François 1st signed the famous Ordinance of Villers-Cotterêts in 1539, marking a major turning point by making French the official language of administrative acts.
After four years of construction under the auspices of the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, the château has now been transformed into a cultural and linguistic mecca, becoming the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française (International City of the French Language), enabling visitors to share in its richness, diversity and vitality. An original tour route, exhibitions, shows and many other surprises are already open to the public.
Working alongside Olivier Weets ACMH as SCMC (scheduling, construction management and coordination), setec opency is proud to have piloted the completion of this major heritage restoration project. The stakes were high, since setec opency had to secure the date of the presidential inauguration, which took place on October 30 in the presence of Emmanuel Macron, in particular thanks to Lean Construction methods that optimized deadlines.
